Thanks for your advice (all of you)! The trip is planned to be about 2500 miles in 10 days. Would be nice to have some more time, but this time it is impossible. Besides, it will be nice to see how the bike (and rider)manages on a long trip. I wear no glasses, so far, but those advices sure are valuable for those who do. I wear an Integral-helmet, since new jaws are very expensive around here.. I bought a windshield today. Used to think shields are for whimps, (how ignorant!) but you made me change my mind. I have changed the original gastank to a bigger one. The masocist-seat must also be replaced by another, so I'll take a look at the "peepees"... I have been thinking about eventually taking off the saddlebags and put on some (ugly) plastic boxes instead. They are bigger and waterproof. When you get older you get lazier and I'm tired of packing all gear into those 84 minigrip plastic bags to keep things dry. Any suggestions about what sort of tankbag to look for ? Magnets or straps ?
I am happy I don't have to cross any 600 mile desert. Also, the great advantage here up north is that in summer the sun never sets, I can ride in daylight almost, for 24 hours. That gives you an other dimension in planning the time schedule.
But - the less you plan, the better the trip, usually. I'll keep that fun-having in mind !
All good things. Peter.
